Usher To Take Center Stage At Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show, But Can He Topple Rihanna's Hype?

The winner of eight Grammy awards, Usher Raymond IV is set to headline next year’s Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show, sponsored by Apple Music, following Rihanna’s record-breaking success, with fans eager to see if he can deliver an equally memorable performance.

What Happened: The National Football League or NFL, entertainment agency Roc Nation, and Apple Music have officially confirmed this update, generating significant excitement among fans and music enthusiasts alike.

“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list,” said the 44-year-old singer-songwriter. “I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before,” he added.

American rapper and Roc Nation founder Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter also praised Usher, saying, “Usher is the ultimate artist and showman. Ever since his debut at the age of 15, he’s been charting his own unique course.”

Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music, said that the halftime show will be broadcast in high-quality Spatial Audio and include exclusive content such as videos, interviews, playlists, and more.

Why It’s Important: The Super Bowl Halftime Show, originating in the late 1960s, stands as one of the most widely viewed television events, occasionally even outpacing the viewership of the game itself, which is the pinnacle event in American football.

Earlier this year, Rihanna’s Halftime Show during Super Bowl LVII garnered widespread acclaim and became the most-watched halftime performance ever.
