Founded 28 years ago by Swen Vincke, Larian has grown into a global presence with studios in Ghent, Kuala Lumpur, Quebec City, Dublin, Guildford, Barcelona, and now Warsaw.

Larian’s journey has been remarkable, transforming from a company known for its average early games in the Divine Divinity series to one that shocked the gaming world with the critically acclaimed Divinity: Original Sin in 2014.

This success was built on a modest budget of €4 million, followed by its 2017 sequel, which raised $2 million via Kickstarter and underwent an extended Early Access period, setting the stage for the monumental success of Baldur's Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3, with a reported budget of $100 million, significantly exceeded expectations, grossing over $650 million in 2023. This financial success underscores Larian's evolution into a major independent game developer, capable of significant investment and risk-taking without the pressure from publishers or shareholders.

Currently, Larian is actively recruiting developers for the new Warsaw studio, potentially tapping into the local talent pool, including developers from CD Projekt Red, known for their expertise in RPGs.
