The time spent on social media sites continues to grow each year, and the companies that facilitate the digital sharing of ideas and information are growing with the trend. So are the offers social media companies are willing to make to prospective employees

What To Know: Meta Platforms Inc METASnap Inc SNAP and TikTok parent company ByteDance are some of the biggest players in the social media space.

The three social giants don't share salary information, but they are required to disclose offers in work-visa applications submitted to the U.S. Office of Foreign Labor Certification, which were analyzed by Business Insider.

Meta employees working on Facebook and Instagram have been offered some pretty high salaries. An ad-agency director for the Mark Zuckerberg-led company made more than $330,000 last year. A director of engineering can make closer to $360,000.

Snap offers a base pay rate of $70,000 to new employees working at its headquarters, but depending on the role, you can make a lot more. According to data from 2021, Snap offered salaries ranging from about $60,000 to $500,000.

In the same year, ByteDance, which is the parent company of TikTok, a video-sharing platform that hosts user-submitted videos, paid employees salaries ranging from approximately $60,000 to $480,000.

The low end of that range was offered to staff workers focused on accounting and human resources, among other things. Those who were working on the tech side of the business saw salaries at the high end, ranging from $440,000 to $480,000.

Those salaries are staggeringly high, even when compared to big tech firms like Apple, Microsoft and Google. But they don't come close to what some of the highest-paid influencers on the platform made last year.

Addison Rae Easterling was the third-highest earner last year, bringing in $8.5 million from TikTok. All three of the highest TikTok earners became popular on the platform by posting short dance videos.
