OnePlus Open Rumored To Outshine Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 And Pixel Fold With The Sharpest Display On A Foldable Yet

OnePlus Open, the upcoming foldable phone, is speculated to have the sharpest screen in its category.

What Happened: The OnePlus Open, the rebranded OPPO Find N3, is rumored to feature the highest pixel-density display among foldable smartphones.

The leak, shared on Tuesday, suggests the device will have a 7.82-inch main display with a 2,268 × 2,440 resolution and a pixel density of 426 PPI.

This would make the display of the OnePlus Open larger and more detailed than the Samsung Electronic Co.’s SSNLF Galaxy Z Fold 5, which has a 7.6-inch inner screen with a 1,812 x 2,176 resolution and a pixel density of 373 PPI.

The outer display of the OnePlus Open is poised to have a higher resolution than the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s cover screen, reported Android Authority

The OnePlus Open is believed to be a global version of the China-only Find N3, as the same company manufactures both phones. The device is also expected to be available in Voyage Black and Emerald Eclipse color options.

Why It Matters: Despite this, OnePlus’s move to potentially launch a foldable device with superior display qualities appears to challenge the viewpoint of Nothing’s CEO Carl Pei, who previously expressed his disinterest in foldable phones, labeling them as niche products.

Pei, who also co-founded OnePlus, said that even though manufacturers push for innovation, consumers struggle to differentiate between foldable models, suggesting a lack of demand for such devices. “I don’t think consumers walk around saying, hey, I wish my phone could fold.”

If the leaks are accurate, OnePlus Open could pose a significant challenge to its competitors in the foldable phone market, particularly regarding display quality.
