Former AG Bill Barr Slams Trump's Verbal Skills That 'Are Limited'

The former U.S. Attorney General, Bill Barr, publicly criticized the verbal skills of former President Donald Trump, referring to them as “limited.”

What Happened: At an event of The University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics, Barr was asked by CBS correspondent if the former President was “losing it.” Barr responded, “He’s not very disciplined with what he says.”

His statement about Trump’s vocabulary elicited laughter from the audience.

Barr continued, “If you get him away from ‘very, very, very,’ you know, the adjectives … they’re unfamiliar to him and they spill out, and he goes too far.”

Why It Matters: The public criticisms have intensified the ongoing feud between Trump and his former Attorney General. This has been exacerbated by Trump’s recent indictment on federal charges, with Barr being one of the most prominent ex-Trump administration members to endorse the indictment.

Barr, who served as Trump’s attorney general for two years before resigning in December 2020, has rejected Trump’s claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election. He has also testified before the House panel investigating the January 6 riots at the Capitol.
