Trump's Niece Calls Her Uncle 'National Security Nightmare' After NYT Report Claims Ex-President Shared Military Secrets With Aussie Billionaire

Mary Trump, the niece of former president Donald Trump, took to X, formerly Twitter, to comment on a user’s post about her uncle sharing U.S. military secrets.

What Happened: A New York Times investigative report published on Sunday suggests that Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt revealed, through recordings, a conversation in which former President Trump shared details of his discussions with Iraq’s leader following a U.S. military strike against Iran-backed forces in December 2019.

Shortly after, a U.S. drone strike in Baghdad killed Iran’s top security and intelligence commander Gen. Qasem Soleimani, the report said.

When MSNBC executive producer Kylie Griffin shared the story on X, Mary Trump said, “How does this national security nightmare continue to roam free.” Lock the mother f**ker up,” she added.

Why It’s Important: Donald Trump has been caught in legal crosshairs even as he has emerged as the frontrunner in the Republican-Democratic primary. Among the multiple cases he is hit with is a federal lawsuit that alleges that the former president mishandled classified documents.

The Department of Justice has appointed Special Counsel Jack Smith to investigate the case and he is leading the prosecution team. A user of the X platform commented that Smith could be in possession of the recordings, adding that Donald Trump was in deep trouble.

Trial dates for Donald Trump’s four criminal cases are set to start one after the other, beginning in March 2024, and they are seen as interfering with his campaigning for the 2024 election.
